The 4th of July!
Happy Birthday America!
Our 4th of July weekend proved to be very festive!
It started on the 3rd of July when a fellow MISO family invited us over for a cookout. There were two other families there and it was such a nice group to be with! We had a wonderful time.... even though Lilly lost a fight with a tree swing and bashed her upper lip. (She's doing much better today and we will go to the dentist tomorrow to get her two front teeth checked.) Our hosts, The Fruits, continue to host great parties, as they did last summer.
Monday, we began our 4th by getting the car washed. ooh, aah. But it just happened that the Carmel parade route went by the carwash, so Kevin and the girls were able to watch it. It was a highlight for Lilly!
We then attended Carmelfest... basically a large block party or small street fair. It was fun, festive and hot! Lilly decided she really wanted a tatoo and of all things, she chose that symbol of our nation's freedom, a cactus. (she did have it painted in red, white and blue.) I'm very sorry I did not get a picture of it :(.
After naps, we made our way to our neighborhood from last summer to have a cookout with our old neighbors. Again, we had such a nice time with them and another couple! (People sure know how to have cookouts up here!) The kids enjoyed playing until it got dark and then we headed home to the hotel. As we drove home, we could see fireworks from Indianapolis, Carmel, Fishers and various neighborhoods. It was incredibly festive!!! (I know I've used that word a lot, but it truly was!) We decided last minute to go to the parking lot of Kevin's work to watch the Carmel fireworks... the picture of Lilly and Kevin says it all!!!
