The Count Down Begins!

Well, NASA may have scrubbed the space shuttle flight for now, but our mission is full throttle ahead, with no delays in the count down!

Count down to what you ask? To moving into our house and out of the Res Inn!
Yes, the closing is scheduled for Friday and our stuff will be delivered on Monday! Halleluia and Praise the Lord!!!!
We have spent our last full week at the hotel and there are quite a few things we won't miss.

They include:
Coin Laundry down the hall
the girls having to share a room
sleep deprivation (b/c the girls are sharing a room and not sleeping.)
Hearing everyone above and next to us flush the toilet/run the water/etc.
Coin Laundry that has two temperature settings: Hot and Incinerate
Tiny trash cans
Having to walk down the hall and outside to dispose of Rosemary's stinky diapers
a REALLY loud dishwasher
did I mention coin laundry?

Despite the tiny living conditions, we have to consider ourselves blessed.

This whole "homeless" experience has really opened my eyes to what it must feel like to be truly homeless. It has changed my perspective a great deal.

I always felt sorry for the homeless and had compassion, but I never thought to "feel" what it is like to be homeless.

Things are harder when one doesn't have a home. When signing up for schools or filling out the visitor slip at a church or going to the doctor, one doesn't have an address or phone number to "fill in the blank." And it is demoralizing, even if you know you will have an address soon. People still look at you in disbelief that you don't have an address. People respond to you differently. You may have a place to reside, but you don't have a home. It really messes with your psyche.

So while a nomadic life might be fun for college students or empty nesters, or even families who choose to travel around the country in an RV, it is no fun if it is unplanned, unexpected or unwanted. Take some time to consider the homeless; the real homeless. Unless you have lived it, you have no idea what they're going through. (Not to say we've lived it; just gotten a glimpse.) They are living a very hard life and if they are trying to get out of their situation, give them the credit due 10 people because they are trying that much harder! But if they are not trying to help themselves, help them yourself. It may be too dark for them to see the light.
