Two things you won't see in Florida

Two things I've seen on TV that I'm pretty sure you won't see in Florida.
1) A local new station's "Fan Club" where you can donate fans to people without a/c. (My question is, If it gets so hot up here, even for a shorter period, shouldn't homes have a/c?)
and
2) A nightly commerical for Bayer agriculture pesticide to combat Asian Soybean Rust; or maybe it's soybean Asian rust.

Thanks for your votes. Decision time approaches... Results will be posted tomorrow!

Your Vote Counts!!

Here they are... the pics of the houses! Please post your vote in the comments box! We HAVE to make a decision by Friday (our deadline for ourselves). Lilly was chanting in the car tonight, "We're the Hotel Girls!!" We've got to get in a house!!!
I did not include inside photos b/c both houses are lovely inside. It would confuse the issue.
Thanks for your vote and prayers!

A fire in June

Is it legal to have a fire going in your fireplace in June? If not, I've broken the law.

I returned from the doctor's office... I had a very strange "wart-like thing", (that's the medical term,) on my index finger. The doctor was very nice and agreed it was a "strange thing" on my finger and that we should freeze it off.
When I left the doctor's office, it looked as though someone had pulled the curtains. Our first Midwestern rain storm!
As I was driving home, not one, not two, but four different people were looking up at the sky... I'm guessing they were trying to determine if a tornado was forming. Oh joy.
We've already taught Lilly that if she hears the tornado sirens (they test them every Friday at 11:00) she's to run to the basement. Of course we don't have a basement, yet.
Any hoo, it was so dark and dreary when I got back to the room, I decided to turn on the gas fireplace. Now granted, it is still 80 degrees outside, but it was cozy for the first 10 minutes and then it got too hot. I just thought I'd share that... it's not often one can have a fire in June!

Be sure to check back soon... I'll be taking pictures of the two houses we're considering (weather permitting) and posting them tonight. Vote on your favorite!

The first week is over

It is hard to believe, but it was just last Sat. that we left Tampa. It may have passed quickly for you, but for Kevin and me it seems MUCH LONGER!!! But he was glad he didn't have to get on a plane and I've been very happy to have help with bathtime.

I resolved on Thursday we would no longer take a frantic approach to house hunting and we've (the girls and I) have had some fun. We went over to a friend's house on Thursday for lunch; we met our neighbor from last summer for lunch on Friday; and a very sweet mom from Lilly's dance class invited all of us over today for lunch and playtime, (her girls are close to Lilly's and Rosemary's age). We still are looking for a house, but it is done in much smaller increments, so as not to exhaust everyone. K and I think we may have the choice narrowed down; there are two houses that one will most likely be the winner.

Going back to the friends that we gathered with this week... they are all so very nice and I am so glad that I met them last summer! I've been praying that we would make good friends up here and God has already begun to answer that prayer! It has made our transition period more pleasant and definitely more bearable!!! Thanks you all for opening your homes and hearts to us!

A word about the weather up here... On Friday it was hotter here than Hilton Head, Savannah, Miami and, yes, TAMPA! Now while the temp was very hot, almost searing, the humidity was not bad. (I think I'm the only one in the Indianapolis metro area who thinks that, though.) So when you hear on the news about the record temperatures in the Midwest, they are not lying! Oh well, you won't hear me complain, but everyone assures me that while I can handle the heat, I will be rudely awaken for the winter. I'll admit, I am very scared! I hope God provides a mild winter for me and my family:)!

Day 2 in Indiana

Day 2 in the Residence Inn feels like day 22. We are all going a bit crazy and poor Kevin is working really hard. They say that death, divorce and moving are among the most stressful things to happen to a person... they should add "living in the Residence Inn with two small, active children."

We have been looking at houses both days here... there are a lot to see... I don't know what our problem is, but we are not able to commit to anything! (I hope we don't pick one out of desperation to leave the Residence Inn!) Unlike Tampa, there are not just a couple of good areas... pretty much all of Carmel is great! The schools are all good; (there's only 1 high school, 3 middle schools and several elementary.) The other areas we've been considering are pretty much the same. Its a very frustrating process, but one that we will get through.

Despite being homeless, it is nice to all be together. We can all have dinner together... today we met Kevin for lunch... it's really nice for everyone. The girls, especially Rosemary, are so excited to see Kevin. (I just think Rosemary is surprised to see him everyday!) We are trying to have some fun moments among the house hunting, so hopefully this time in our lives won't put us in therapy :) Our excitement yesterday was seeing Ted Turner while we were out to dinner; (he was visitng his restaurant Ted's Montana Grill.) Do you think that is a sign to stay or leave Indiana?:)

We're here!

We're here!
I just wrote a bunch of stuff and when I went to do spell check, it closed my window and all my journaling with it! Ugh! Oh well, I don't have any pictures uploaded at this time, so maybe I'll rewrite it tonight w/ photos.

It feels like waiting for a hurricane

Well, after having a delicious meal of Indian food prepared by a neighbors John and Cara, it's go time. I can't say too much b/c I've got to get back to work, but it feels like we're waiting for a hurricane... we're just not sure what to expect in regards to the movers/packers. It could be crazy or it could be uneventful... we'll have to wait and see.
Kevin wants to disconnect the computer so ta ta for now. We'll hopefully be up and running Monday! don't forget our email has now changed to evannoy@hotmail.com
Take care everyone!!! we'll miss you

Packin' up! Posted by Hello

Lilly, Rosemary and Elizabeth after the Lilly's ballet debut. Posted by Hello

The Move has begun!!

Well, it's Tuesday night and the countdown is underway! In 24+ hours the movers will be here packing up all our "stuff" (and it really is just "stuff", isn't it); in 48+ hours they will be loading the truck and in 72+ hours we will be on the road to our new home, the Residence Inn in Carmel, IN.

The last Tuesday in our home proved to be interesting. Rosemary must have thought Kevin and I were not stressed enough because she decided to slip in the bathroom and catch/hit her nose on the corner of her step stool. It was one of the most horrific sights to witness. I'll skip all the inbetween details... the doctor didn't think it was broken and she is fine. Although the doctor did say that after swelling goes down, to take her to an ENT if her nose looks crooked. great. Thankfully we have friends and contacts in Indy who know of good doctors!

Isn't ironic that we have names of doctors, dentists, tailors, hair stylists, vets, churches, etc... the things that usually take a while to find when you're in a new place... and we don't have an address for our mail to come to? I've said it before and I'll say it again... God has a sense of humor, I'm just waiting for the punchline! (I don't mean that irreverently. I have to laugh at our situation!) I am completely confident that He will provide the perfect home for us; I just hope His timing and mine coincide!
